WCDSB Update

The WCDSB continues to face staffing shortages in many areas in education.  They are actively recruiting teachers, Educational Assistants, custodians and Administrative Assistants.

As new recruits pursue the interview process, we are hopeful as SVdP continues to face challenges in day-to-day supply teachers.  We are pleased that all classrooms are staffed with qualified teachers, however, on days we do not have a supply teacher, for student safety we need to reassign Ms. Beha, Ms. Sousa, Ms. Harnack, Mr. Hutfluss or Mme Chaves to teach a classroom to ensure classes have a teacher.  We are also waiting for a Planning Time teacher and Itinerant Health Teacher for one of our Grade 3 class and for our Junior Music Teacher (grades 4 to 8) to return from his reassignment.  We will continue to update families as this evolves.  If you or someone you know is looking for employment, they are invited to contact the WCDSB at 519-578-3660.  Thank you for your partnership and understanding.

Seven Grandfather Teachings:  December is WISDOM

This month, our students will focus on the moral teaching of Wisdom.   The teaching of wisdom will us to use our gifts wisely and to recognize our differences and those of others in a kind and respectful way. Wisdom nurtures our ability to listen with clarity and a sound mind so this teaching will focus on how to listen.   Wisdom is about asking questions, observing with the heart (feeling), and developing a curiosity about the world.  Wisdom is represented by the beaver because the beaver uses its natural gift wisely for survival. The beaver also alters its environment in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way for the benefit of its family.

Tiger Family Update Week of November 28- December 2, 2022

Dear Tiger Families,

Many thanks to our families for attending the Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences this past week.  It was a wonderful opportunity to once again see everyone and to come together to discuss your child’s strengths and how we, parents and educators, can help your child achieve greater success this year.  It is by working together and supporting each other that will ultimately have the greatest positive impact on your child.  Please continue to reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns.  We appreciate and value our partnership to support our students!

The Advent season is upon us!  As we celebrate the season of Advent, we prepare ourselves for the celebration of the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ at Christmas. During the season of Advent, different classes will lead us in a virtual liturgy to help remind us to stay hopeful and that together we will experience God’s blessing as we wait and prepare for the birth of Jesus. This week, our first Advent Liturgy will be led by Ms. Ianni’s, Mr. Figuereido’s, and Ms. Leandres’ classes.

DRESSING FOR THE WEATHER

With the colder temperatures and snow, it is so important to ensure that your child is dressed for the weather.  Winter coats, boots, mitts, snowpants, and hats will keep them warm and dry so they can enjoy their time outside.  It is also a good idea to bring extra socks or mitts to keep in their backpack.  Every student must have a pair of indoor shoes!
