Summer Greetings From SVdP!

Good morning Tigers,

We are only one week away from welcoming everyone back to a new school year.  We hope you are having a great summer and we hope that you can continue to savor the remaining days.   The office re-opens this week and our amazing Administrative Assistants, Mrs. Bartlett and Mrs. Soares will once again be able to help starting on Tuesday.  While ‘back to school’ commercials are in full swing, please do not feel that you need to rush out and purchase supplies.  All that we ask is that you purchase a reusable water bottle that is NOT made of glass, a good backpack if you don’t already have one, and a good pair of indoor running shoes that can be left at school and used for phys. ed (crocs, slides, etc. can not be worn in the gym).   The rest of the items that you may need will be discussed with your teacher in the first week, or provided by the school.

Class Placements and Start-Up Forms

By Friday, September 1st, students will know who their teacher will be through the Aspen parent portal.  Most families are already registered as we used this system last year.  Here is the link with instructions on how to access Aspen:  Online-Registration-Parent-Process

School Cash Online will be available at the start of school to complete a number of the 2023-2024 Start-Up Forms. If you do not have a School Cash Online account, please visit www.schoolcashonline.com and click Register.  Instructions on how to register can be found HERE.

Student Transportation

Please visit www.stswr.ca to find out if your child is eligible for bussing.  Information on pick up/drop off times and locations can also be found on Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region’s website beginning the week of August 21st .  You will need your child’s OEN # (can be found at the top of previous years’ report cards) to access bussing information.  Please also make sure to sign up to recieve notifications about late busses and route changes.

Opting Out of Transportation

If students reside in the bus zone, but require partial or no busing, please complete the “Do Not Ride Form” located on the website.  Families may opt out of busing altogether or take the bus either in the morning or afternoon only. The form lets the school, the bus driver, and STSWR know that students will not be taking the bus in one or both directions. When STSWR receives the “Do Not Ride” form, your child will be removed from the bus list accordingly.  This will help ensure that students are not assigned to a bus in error and inadvertently put on a bus at the end of the day.
